Don't Forget the Permit
Building Permits are required to be obtained prior to the construction
or installation of any structure or solid fuel heating appliances in the
Town.  This includes decks, fences, additions, sheds, pole barns,
any swimming pool capable of holding water over 24-inches in depth
and the replacement of any existing structure. 
The new installation of outdoor wood fueled boilers has been prohibited.

Open burning: Burn Permits are required for all open burning except
recreational fires, as defined.
Recreational Fire.  An outdoor fire burning materials other than
garbage, rubbish or refuse where the fuel being burned consists of a
total fuel area of three (3) feet or less in diameter and two (2) feet or
less in height for pleasure, religious, ceremonial, cooking, warmth or
similar purposes and excluding the burning of materials for the sake
of disposal. The minimum required distance of a recreational
fire from a structure shall be twenty-five (25) feet.
Burn permits are free and may be obtained at the town hall.

2007 Leash Law Amendments   
Effective April 12, 2007, the revised leash law affects Marcellus Knolls,
comprising Antionette Drive, Aqua Drive, Candlewick Lane, Cranapple
Drive, Goldrush Drive and Roman Avenue,  the area of the Town of
Marcellus known as the Browsing Lane-Deerpath area, being all parcels
that adjoin Browsing Lane, Deer Path and Deer Path Circle, and the
recreational area of the Town of Marcellus, known as the Marcellus Park.

Stormwater Management Program
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
(NYSDEC) is overseeing a federally mandated program to control
stormwater runoff and protect waterways.  Permits are required for
stormwater discharges from Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems
(MS4s) in urbanized areas and for construction activities disturbing one
or more acres. The Town of Marcellus has been automatically
designated as a regulated MS4.

LEGAL NOTICE - Assessment Review Hearings
The Assessor of the Town of Marcellus has completed his preliminary
determination of the assessed value of all real property located in the
Town of Marcellus.

Assessment Disclosure Notices containing the preliminary deter-
minations have been mailed to each owner of property located within the
Town of Marcellus.

Information concerning the preliminary assessed values are available
for inspection at the assessor’s office located in the Town of Marcellus
Town Hall at 24 East Main Street in the Village of Marcellus.

The Assessor will be holding three informal hearings at the Marcellus
Fire Station located at 4242 Slate Hill Rd in the Town of Marcellus, these
hearings will be held on Tuesday, April 29th from 9am to 1pm and 2pm
to 6pm; Wednesday, April 30th from 9am to 1pm, 2pm to 6pm and from
7pm to 10pm; Thursday, May 1st from 9am to 1pm.  Any person desiring
to meet with the assessor should call 315-673-3269 Ext 5 to make an
appointment.
